The new Volvo Electric Car XC40 is a compact SUV that will be available in three trim levels – S, SE and T5 AWD. It comes with an all-electric powertrain and features a range of over 200 miles.
Price & Specs
The new Volvo Xc40 starts at £29,995 for the entry level S model, rising to £35,495 for the top-of-the-range T5 AWD version. There’s also a plug-in hybrid variant called the PHEV (plug-in electric vehicle) that costs £36,095.
Design & Features
The new Volvo X C40 looks very similar to its predecessor, with a more rounded front end and sharper lines. It’s also slightly longer than before, measuring 4,845mm compared to 4,715mm. Inside, there’s plenty of space for five adults, although rear legroom isn’t as generous as some rivals.
Performance
The new Volvo Xc40 comes with a range of engines, including two petrol units – one 1.6 litre turbocharged four cylinder engine producing 184bhp and 258lb ft of torque, and another 2.0 litre diesel unit producing 148bhp and 400lb ft of torque. There’s also an electric motor producing 151bhp and 300lb ft of torque.
Safety
The Volvo XC40 comes with a host of safety features, including automatic emergency braking (AEB), pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control. It also comes with a number of driver assistance systems, such as collision warning, road sign recognition, and speed limit display.
